About Pau D’ Arco: For thousands of years, indigenous tribes of South America have used Pau D’Arco as a traditional cure-all and praise the substance for its healing properties. Pau D’Arco comes from the inner bark of the purple-flowering Taheebo tree. As scientists investigate this tree they have noted how it seems to have an incredible ability to resist fungal growth that is common in the environment in which they grow. When the inner bark is taken and steeped in water, the result is an extract with similar antifungal properties.
There are many names for the Pau D’Arco herb including Taheebo, Ipe Roxo, La Pacho, or Tabebuia. Dr. Teodoro Meyer, Professor at the National University of Tucuman in Argentina, noted a wide range of properties of this fantastic herb. Pau D’Arco is analgesic, sedative, decongestant, diuretic and hypotensive giving the capability to greatly benefit your body’s overall health. Pau D’Arco has many documented benefits, including strong activity against at least 11 different fungus and yeast strains. It is thought that those with a yeast allergy could greatly benefit from using a Pau D’Arco supplement.
Those who are using Pau D’Arco report that sometimes the symptoms initially become worse. This tendency is attributed to a ‘yeast die-off.’ The theory is that as the yeast die and are filtered into the bloodstream in mass amounts, they cause a heightened allergic reaction within the system. These reaction times are usually last only a short time as the large quantities pass through the system.
Clinical studies showed that Pau D’Arco has no contraindications, no incompatibilities, and has been proven to be non-toxic. However, the most innocuous of agents could finally become toxic if taken in large enough amounts.
